what is with all the spam popping up in the blogs? Can we get this fixed?
so I made $175 today in profit. I was noticing my bad streak and it wasn’t just variance, it was my play. I signed up for the free trial offer at Deuces Cracked and their video’s helped fill in some of those leaks. I still have plenty to improve on but a $175 is a good start. I would of made more money if it weren’t for my leaks (which is true for all of us I know). I placed 2nd in a 45 man SnG and 2nd in a single table. Plus some grinding I did at micro stakes. Hopefully my future posts will have as good of a tempo. Once I get more of my bankroll padded, I will then start posting hand histories of good moves I made and donkey ones.
I don’t have a bad heads up game…but it just isn’t my style I have figured out. I am much better at MTT and SnG’s. All these HU games are just tilting me and screwing up the games I am good at, so I am going to lay off them. My mid years resolution, no more HU games…unless it is against someone I know.
Heads Up was against me tonight. I kept getting my opponent down to half my stack, only for miracle cards to come their way. I need to lay off it tonight. Earlier today I did get 22nd place out of 700 in a $24 Knock Out Tourney. All it took was one stupid all in to knock me out, it’s how it goes I guess. Still profited $100 from that…only to give it away to every guy I went Heads Up against tonight…blah.
So I lost my Bankroll in two days on the site. But I think I have my feet under me now.
A) I wasn’t preforming proper BR management
B) I was sucking
I have already won half the roll back from this afternoons play, hopefully the momentum will keep up.
I am starting to see some posts in forums of people having trouble getting their money off the sites because of the Feds or something. I don’t know much besides what I read and I usually take anything written in a forum with a grain of salt. If it is true, I am sure it will pass over. It can’t be the first time there was a scare in getting your money out. I will most likely finish my night out in $20 SnG’s, so if you read this before 11pm, come join.
So my roommate got the shaft from a crash on Absolute Poker by them not refunding his tournament buy in. So I am pulling my money out of absolute and now playing on Full Tilt. The GUI of FT is amazing, much better than Absolute. I am getting used to playing there now and got beat on a two outer for $50 at a cash game today. I flopped trip 7’s and the guy went all in with his pocket rockets, so I called. He got an Ace on the turn, giving him trip Aces. It was a sad defeat but oh well, I was up 50 dollars at the table so I broke even. I’ll try to snag the hand history next time to post it. I’m not winning much on Full Tilt right now, but hopefully that will turn around. It will be sad to have to reload money. You can find me in tourneys between $10-$30 buy ins.
I feel that I should throw out a little about myself. To begin with, I am not a pro player, I wouldn’t even consider myself a good player, more middle of the road. I’ve been playing poker off and on for a couple years but have decided to really start dedicating some serious time to it. I primarily play SnG’s ($20) on Absolute. Sometimes I’ll throw myself in a tourney (one I placed 6th in recently with 150 entree’s) and try to stay away from the cash games(still play them though). I’ve read a few books that I recommend for some good foundation play.
Full Tilt Poker Strategy Guide
Kill Everyone ~Lee Nelson, Tysen Streib, and Kim Lee
Sit ‘n Go Strategy ~ Collin Moshman
Online Ace ~ Scott Fischman
There is one book that I do not recommend. I admit I didn’t read it from cover to cover, but what I skimmed through and read I didn’t really agree with alot:
Killer Poker Online ~ John Vorhaus
Little about me:
I’m originally from Rochester Minnesota. After graduating with a Law Enforcement degree, I joined the Army in the infantry. I’m currently waiting on a medical discharge because my left eye is blind. I have a passion for cooking and plan on attending L’Academie De Cuisine once I am discharged.
My goal for this blog is to track my progress over the years and hopefully help people out with my experience as I grow. Poker is obviously a fast paced game, you can be chip lead one moment and then short stacked thirty minutes later (even if you are playing “correctly”) I also hope that this blog will help me not make donk calls or raises. Hopefully this blog will be in the back of my mind for someone coming by and leaving me a comment on how crappy I played a particular hand. Who knows, maybe no one will read this besides me and my mom.
I recently started to aggresivley play poker online (Absolute Poker). I’m up $150 right now and will start using my blog to post hand histories and a nice place to vent my bad beats. I’ll throw a nice hand history I won last night. Hopefully my blog will help you see some good play and some bad plays I made to learn from my mistakes.

I started this cash game with $40. Then this morning I made another $60 in less than an hour. Just getting some good hands with donkeys calling. Now I have a good pad to my BR to play more SnG’s.
