A Day With The Dangs

Hey guys, here is the piece we did with Hac and Di Dang.  We really hope you enjoy it.  It’s the first time we’ve ever done something like this.  Thanks to Mike Watkins for producing/editing.  Of course, we have to thank The Dang family for letting us into their home for a day.  Hac and Di are monsters at the poker table, but the nicest dudes you will ever meet off the table.

Thanks for listening to the radio show and we hope you enjoy the video!

So for the last month or so we’ve been working out details on a project with two of the greatest online players in history who happen to be even better people.   Hac and Z Dang (aka Trex313 and Urindanger) agreed to let Bret and I and our crew head over to their house to meet the family, get a tour of their home and see what it’s like playing in the biggest cash games on the internet.

We’ve got a lot of footage that needs to be meticulously gone over and edited before we release anything.  But to whet your appetite we wanted to give you a taste of what we’ve shot.

This is our first attempt at bringing content like this to mediocrepokerradio.com.  Let us know if you like the idea, tell your friends about it and hopefully this will be the first of many more inside looks into the amazing world of high stakes online poker.

We hope this type of content is something you enjoy.

Peace,

EB and Bret

PS. Thanks to Mike Watkins and Lil Bit Money Films for your tireless efforts and Matt Myers for not dropping the boom mic.

New Vid

Hey guys- here is a video I made last night of me playing a $55 turbo heads-up sit and go.  You will hear my thought process and how I approach these matches.  Since I mainly play HU S&G’s I do think I have an advantage although I am obviously not a poker pro and I’m sure there are many leaks in my game and thinking.  I made the video in the same style as Bluefirepoker.com or Cardrunners.com or .  Let me know what you think.  Oh, I also made other videos which are longer…just gotta figure out how to get them on the web without using nubbins youtube.  If anyone reading this is interested in making a vid, it’s actually really easy.  Shoot me an email and I can walk you through how to do it.  We’ll post it on the site and we can critique each others play and maybe learn a thing or two.  Thx for watching….

Borgata Trip Report

Thanks to everybody that participated and supported The Junkies Poker Open 5.  What an unbelievable turnout!  With the economy in shambles and everybody cutting back on discretionary spending we were fairly nervous about how this tourney would go.  We knew we’d get our loyal listeners and die hard poker players to participate.  But to think we’d get 525 DC metro area people to take a day or two off from work, drive 3 plus hours to AC, donk off $300 for the tournament and whatever else on hotel accomodations etc…. is mind blowing.  Honestly, what other show could get such a turnout?  Maybe the Stern show…. that’s probably it.  We have the greatest listeners in the world.  Our previous record turnout was maybe 100 people less.  And it’s impossible to know exactly how many others didn’t get into the tournament because they cut the line off about an hour or so into the event.

Props to The Borgata for putting us up at The Water Club too.  What a great hotel.  Great rooms, awesome bar, cool views, delicious food, beautiful people….seriously…the place is sick.  Ray the director of poker marketing always takes care of us but he outdid himself this time.

We got up there on Wednesday after the show.  I was the first one there but was determined to work out a little before hitting the tables.  I told myself if I could get 2 workouts in over the 3 days at the Borgata I would be thrilled.  I knew they would have an amazing workout room at The Water Club which was added incentive.  But the truth of the matter is every time I leave AC or Vegas I feel like shit.  I eat horribly, drink the whole time and just sit on my butt and see flops.  This trip would be different.  Mostly because I’ve never worked on my fitness more than I have the last 3 months.  I have just completed the P90x workout and no chance Im gonna throw it all away in 3 days.

So after checking into my room I went straight to the workout room for the first time in my life at a casino.  I actually used an eliptical for the first time too since I work out at home and I have a treadmill and bike but thats it as far as cardio.  To be honest I didn’t really like it either.  I felt like I was crouching and sorta uncomfortable the whole time.  Maybe it was just because it was new to me.  It definitely didn’t feel natural.

Hellmuth mucks QQ with 15bb

Hellmuth is amazing to watch on Poker After Dark. The guy is hilarious and non-stop entertainment. He was short stacked last Wednesday and folded QQ preflop with 15 big blinds and the pot already pretty big. Although Matusow and Gavin Smith goofed on him the rest of the week for being such a nit, I’m guessing he only did it because he values his national TV time. No chance he misses out on 2 nights of NBC exposure. Check out the video below.
