I’m a big fan of Blue Moon Belgian White, so when I saw they made a “spring” brew, I grabbed a bottle to try. I didn’t realize it at the time I bought it, but the predominant flavoring for this beer is lime. I’m not a huge fan of lime, so I was kind of disappointed to find that out. It was sitting in my fridge for a few weeks, and I finally cracked it open. I was pleasantly surprised when I took the first sip. Rising Moon is classified as an American Amber Ale, but it tastes way different than any Amber Ale I’ve ever had before. The lime taste wasn’t overpowering like I was expecting. When you drink a lime flavored beer like Corona, it has a sort of artificial taste to it. This had a really subtle, genuine lime flavor that was just right. I also detected some other citrus flavors like a little lemon and a hint of orange. Overall it was a really smooth drinking beer. I drank this on a 93 degree day after a round of golf, so I found it to be very refreshing and thirst quenching. I think this is a nice warm/hot weather beer and suites the spring seasonal category well.
I’ll give this one 4 out of 5 stars
